Hi there! My name is Eric, and I'm excited to begin my tutoring career with Tutor.com. I'm new to the world of tutoring, but I like to think I've always been a teacher. I'm excited to teach, support, and get to know many students who need help in math, science, and social studies. I grew up taking advanced classes in all subjects in elementary and fell in love with school at a young age. I was always involved in after school math, science, and book clubs. In high school, I took AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, Physics, and AP US History. I was a part of the poetry and prose submissions for my high school's literary magazine. Also, my strongest section on my SAT was the math section. In college, I majored in theater and film and was a teacher's assistant for two years.
I Love Tutoring Because
I think it is so important to meet a student where they are when it comes to learning and finishing school work. At times growing up, I had issues learning. One teacher I had in elementary school saw something in me that the others didn't. The material that I was learning was too easy for me, and oftentimes I would get distracted with other things. Teachers thought that I was acting out, but really I needed to be challenged. Without this teacher, I wouldn't have been able to test into advanced classes and stay out of trouble. I think our education system in this country could use a little help when it comes to meeting kids where they are instead of telling them they aren't good enough. Everyone is good enough with the right amount of care and attention. Helping someone grow from the beginning and watching them become something better is one of the most rewarding feelings.
