Career Experience
When I was in college, I worked two jobs at the same time: one was a student librarian, and the other was a tutor. I began tutoring in my junior year of college after being recommended to become a writing center tutor by a professor. I was a tutor for a year and was even allowed to attend a conference in Atlanta, Georgia, and lead a small group discussion about cultural competencies in writing centers.
I Love Tutoring Because
it is a profession where I know I can make a difference. In elementary school, I spent my recess time indoors teaching kindergarteners how to read and tutoring writing in the library; helping them helped me become the tutor I am today. I understand that some students need a little extra help when understanding classroom materials and others are too shy to ask for the help they need, so I love helping them grow in their coursework.
